BHAA OPW 5k Trail Race

The club was out in force for the BHAA 5k trail in the Phoenix Park last Wednesday. Conditions could have been better, with persistent rain all day, but this didn’t dampen any performances on the day with club members coming away with a plethora of prizes.

3 of the lads finished in the top 10. Jason Reilly was first home in 17:14 and 4th overall. Podge was hot on his tail finishing in 17:22 and 5th overall. Patrick O’Reilly was next in 17:47, 9th overall. Great running lads.

Nick Devery had a fine run, finishing in 19:52, first in his age category. Vincent O’Neill was next in 20:22 and second in what appears to be a very competitive O60 category! Next man home was Mark Carroll in 21:13, followed by Ken Byrne in 21:40, Owen McFeely in 21:50, Brian Boland in 22:24, Brian Corr in 24:00 and Joe Delaney in 25:40.

In the ladies end of things, Brid Ryan finished 4th overall and also won the F35 category. Well done Brid. Next lady home was Leonie Macauley who finished in 24:12 and pick up 2nd place in the O40 category. Well done Leonie. Leonie was then followed by Hannah Snowe in 25:08 and Emma Norton in 27:50.

Well done to everyone racing.

Next lady home was Marie Norris in 42:48, followed by Margaret Moloney in 47:26.

In the men’s race Paul Cowhie was first home in 27:51, and second O55. Congratulations Paul. Paul was followed by Sean Ryan in 31:35. Next man across the line was Brian Boland who finished in 35:48, followed by Joe Delaney in 40:56. The team consisting of Paul, Sean and Joe narrowly missed out on an O50 prize, finishing in 4th place. A great performance all the same!

Castleknock 5k

It was yet another local race on Sunday with the Casteknock 5k. Gareth Horgan had a great result finishing in 18:08, 7th overall and 2nd M40. Noel Ryan also had a great run, finishing in 19:05. He must have been rushing to make thrown-in at Semple Stadium! Brian Boland was next man home in 22:25
