BHAA Eir XC/National Intermediate XC – (2017 #3)

Well done to everyone training or racing this week. Subscriptions for 2017 are now due and will be collected at training. Payment by 31st Jan. is required for continued membership of the club.

The next race on the BHAA XC Winter League Calendar is the Garda Boat Club/St. Raphaels XC, at the Magizine Fort on Sat. 4th Feb. There will be separate starts for the ladies 2 mile and mens 4 mile races. Full Info and entries via BHAA Website: https://bhaa.ie/events/


Well done to everyone who competed in the Eir Ballyboden St. Endas GAA, in Firhouse on Sat. 21st Jan. There were separate starts for the ladies 2 mile and mens 5 mile races. In the ladies race we had Laura Cullen in 5th place (3rd SF) continuing her impressive form, Ashley Pia Ryan had a great run in 8th. Gemma Treacy has made leaps and bounds this Winter finishing in 16th, picking up a category prize also finishing 2nd F35 and Mairead Cullen in action finishing in 31st. In the mens race we had Dave Hipwell running well in 24th (4th M45), Noel Ryan in 49th (14th M40), Ronan Ward 62nd (2nd M60, picking up a category prize), Nick Devery in 68th (4th M55), Vincent O’ Neill 72nd (4th M60) and Paul Cullen 73rd (7th M50). Well done to Neil O’Rourke who finished in a fine 7th place today in the Athletics Ireland National Intermediate XC in Palace Grounds, Tuam. Neil was part of the winning Dublin team also. Civil Service Harriers Athletic Club is a running club based in the Phoenix Park in Dublin and was officially founded in 1867, making it Ireland’s oldest athletic club. However, these days you don’t have to be a Civil Servant to join the club. The club is comprised of runners of all levels and abilities who meet and run in the Phoenix Park.
