Ballycotton 10 + Carlow 5k/10k – (2017 #9+10)

Well done to everyone in action this week. The Spring road season is in full swing with many looking ahead to the Dunboyne 4 and Great Ireland Run 10k. Best of luck to anyone who has given up sweets for lent, your running training will benefit!

Well done to Mairead O’Shaughnessy who was 4th place Female (3rd Senior) in a time of 20:39 in the St. Laurence O’Tooles Fit4life 5k in Carlow today. Brid Ryan followed closely in 5th (4th SF), having a great race also. Gemma Treacy finished in 9th place, with Hazel Coogan in action also. Neil O’Rourke was 1st place overall in the 5k in 16:03, with Keith Farrell having a great race, finishing 12th in 20:18. Ken Byrne finished in 17th place (3rd M50), with Christy Smith in action too. Well done to all competing. A big congratulations to the crew of CSH’ers that travelled to Cork this weekend for the ever-popular Ballycotton 10. Well done to Eoin Devlin who finished 53rd in a time of 57:52, Eoin was followed by Jason Reilly in 76th in a time of 58:52, super running. Next CSH’er home was Eanna Kavanagh in 59:05, great running by Eanna. Andrew Moore finished in 59:48, breaking the hour mark with Martin Prunty clocking home in 1:01:05 and Patrick Coyle finishing in 1:02:53. Colm Brady finished in a time of 1:03:56, with Noel Ryan in 1:06:19 and Paul O’Neill in 1:06:44. Civil Service Harriers Athletic Club is a running club based in the Phoenix Park in Dublin and was officially founded in 1867, making it Ireland’s oldest athletic club. However, these days you don’t have to be a Civil Servant to join the club. The club is comprised of runners of all levels and abilities who meet and run in the Phoenix Park.
