CSH runners flying at the airport race

On a perfect day for running there were 40 ladies and 162 men competing at the BHAA XC race in ALSAA last Saturday which including 3 ladies and 16 men from CSH. Conditions were perfect underfoot which was a pleasant prize for runners used to very tough conditions at ALSAA in pervious races. First home in the 2.5mile ladies race was Angie McElligot in 13mins58sec which earned her 7th place in the overall race. Second lady home was Brid Ryan in 15mins9sec who was followed directly by Marie Norris in 15mins12sec. Angie and Brid were on the Dublin Hospitals team that were 2nd in the ladies team race. In the mens 5mile race first home for CSH was Bobby Bedford in 29mins34sec which earned him 10th place in the race and first place in his category. Second man home was Jason Harte in 32mins8sec followed by Martin Prunty in exactly 33mins. As always there were battles between the CSH runners in the field, Tony Keegan, Owen McFeely and Stephen Lynch all finished within a 30sec window. Likewise Brian Doyle and Joe Delaney finished within 20sec of each other. Other prizes on the day went to Hughie Byrne for a second race in a row was 1st in his category  – great to see CSH men first in two categories. In the team prizes the Ordnance Survey team with Stephen Lynch were 2nd in the B class and the Manufacturing B team with Tony Keegan, Brian Doyle and Tom Turner were 3rd in the D class. Special mention goes to Stephen Downey who has perfected crossing the finish line in style – check out his photo on racepix.

Hopefully we will see more CSH runners at the next BHAA race in Malahide Rugby Club on 21st Mar at 8pm. This is a great floodlit race and will be very exciting as it is the last race of the winter league and all the top places are still to be decided. Check out the BHAA league results where many CSH runners feature in the Top 10 of each league.
