Leinster Intermediate XC – (2017 #2)

Well done to everyone training or racing this week. Subscriptions for 2017 are now due and will be collected at training. Payment by 31st Jan. is required for continued membership of the club.


The next race on the BHAA XC Winter League Calendar is the Eir Ballyboden St. Endas GAA, in Firhouse on Sat. 21st Jan. There will be separate starts for the ladies 2 mile and mens 5 mile races. Full Info and entries via BHAA Website: https://bhaa.ie/events/

Dublin Athletics Board issued full results of last weeks Dublin Athletics Masters Cross Country at St Anne’s Park, Raheney. In the ladies 3K race, we had Siobhan Carroll finishing 27th overall (11th W35), Gemma Treacy and Riitta Kansanniva were 62nd & 63rd overall (18th W35 & 6th W50), respectively. In the Master Men we had Paul Cowhie having a fine race 32nd overall and claiming third place bronze in his M50 category, Paul was followed by Bernard Duggan in 43rd, with a top-20 position in a very competitive M35 category, well done to Bernard. Dave Hipwell was 60th overall, 9th place in his M45 category. Next CSH’er home was Colm Brady in 64th place (21st M40), followed closely by Martin Prunty and Noel Ryan in 80th and 81st place (28th & 29th M40), respectively. Sean Ryan had a great race finishing 4th M55, followed by Ronan Ward who continues his medal spree with 3rd place M60. Nick Devery was 11th M55, with Michael Fennell 13th M55. Well done to Paul Cullen finishing 27th M50. The M50 team of Paul Cowhie, Sean Ryan, Ronan Ward and Nick Devery had to settle for 4th place, but a great performance nonetheless. Well done to Neil O’Rourke who was selected for the Dublin team for the Athletics Ireland National Intermediate XC in Palace Grounds, Tuam next Sunday 22nd Jan.


Today with had a mens team competing in the Leinster Athletics Leinster Intermediate XC in Cow Park, Dunboyne, Co. Meath. Neil was 2nd place overall claiming Silver, leading the Dublin team home to Silver medals also, well done to Neil. Jason Reilly was next CSH’er home in 21st place, having a great run. Eanna Kavanagh was 35th with Eoin Kealy in 38th, well done to Eanna and Eoin.

Civil Service Harriers Athletic Club is a running club based in the Phoenix Park in Dublin and was officially founded in 1867, making it Ireland’s oldest athletic club. However, these days you don’t have to be a Civil Servant to join the club. The club is comprised of runners of all levels and abilities who meet and run in the Phoenix Park.
